Man, at least 19 years of age
|
The Institute of
Medicine recommends that men, at least 19 years of age, consume 400 mcg of folate per day.
|
While the IOM does not specifically
recommend that men take a multivitamin containing folic acid, men may benefit generally
from multivitamins and a healthy diet. Men are at higher risk for cardiovascular disease and colorectal cancer than women. Folic acid may help reduce their
risk of developing these conditions.
