| Goal: The goal of
this module is to train health professionals and students to counsel on the benefits of
folic acid in the prevention of birth defects and other conditions.
Objectives:
After completing Advocating for Folic
Acid, the user will be able to:
- Identify the benefits associated with folic acid
consumption for all family members, particularly its role in preventing birth defects.
- Demonstrate awareness of current knowledge about appropriate
folic acid intake and describe the sources of folic acid and their characteristics.
- Identify the internal and external factors that affect folic
acid intake.
- Demonstrate increased confidence in his/her ability to
provide folic acid education.
- Advocate for adequate folic acid intake with patients and in
his/her community.
